Dear Church

It was great to be with you all on Sunday and thank you for the very warm welcome. My wife, children and I all felt warmly welcomed and supported as we commenced our ministry with you all. To everyone who made us dinner, prayed, or greeted us warmly, a very big thank you. Especially to the person who made those brownies. Oh, wow!

Can I ask you a question? Is there someone who was once at St John’s who you haven’t seen for a while? Maybe someone who has drifted away during COVID or perhaps during the period of not having a senior minister? Maybe now is a good time to send them a text or give them a call to invite them back. People move on for all sorts of reasons – good, bad and indifferent, but I would hate for someone to drift away from our church and not to get followed up. Maybe you could say “our new minister has arrived, he’s OK but his wife’s great…” I will leave what you say up to you.

Thursday night will be a significant one for our church - the official start of a new season of ministry for all of us. A season which I trust will be characterised by personal transformation, new believers being added to our number, and all of us being a blessing to whoever crosses our path.

God bless,

Matt
